What Social Media Platforms Should I Use?

Not sure what social media platform is best for your business? Each year it seems like there are always new platforms to choose from and it is important to want your business to be up-to-date with what is going on in the social media world. 

Before posting to any social media platform and choosing what platforms can be best used for your business, it is important to consider how each one is used. 


#1.Facebook - 

Facebook contains more website traffic than any other social media network. Facebook is a social platform that any business will gain tons a reach from. Not only can businesses use Facebook to post organically on their pages but they can also use paid post promotions, native advertising, and more. 

Connecting with others on Facebook should be piece of cake considering that Facebook has over 2 billion active users. Facebook gives your business an opportunity to turn your customer base into a community. Facebook allows you to create stronger connections with your customers by being able to have conversations and answer any questions that they may have. 


Facebook users are 53% female and 47% male. 

88% of Facebook users are ages 18-34. 

Users of ages 35-54 are rising each year as well and continue to become more and more active on Facebook. 


#2. Instagram - 

Instagram in one of the most used social networks for users under the age of 25. If you’re looking to connect with potential customers in this young age group, Instagram is the perfect place for your business to be. Instagram is made up by posting photos and short videos with small amounts of text. It is a great place to snap quick photos of new products or special promotions that your business has going on. On Instagram, businesses can also use hashtags that will allow users following certain hashtags on interest to see your content as well, reaching more views. 


#3. Twitter - 

Twitter is also a platform that is used by younger individuals but this time, the users are mostly male, different from other social media sites. Twitter contains a steady stream of information from all over the internet. Most individuals seek Twitter for current news and connections with to trending topics. In order for your business to be successful on Twitter, a stream of many Tweets throughout the day must be posted to make sure that your content does not get lost in the clutter. This platform is also a great place for hashtags that allows your content to be seen by others interested in your topic of choice.  


Whatever social media platform you choose, make sure it fits your target demographic and be sure to post content that will relate to your audience and the platform. For example, Facebook is good for video, pictures, and text. Instagram works best when just photos and short videos are posted. Twitter is best used for mainly text and occasionally a picture. 

Social Media is a very powerful tool that isn’t very costly if you don’t want it to be. A large impact can be made for your business by just posting organically can getting consumers involved, but it must be done in a correct way. Don’t let your posts get lost in the clutter by posting at the correct times a day when your viewers are using social media the most and be sure to make every post engaging allowing your target audience to interact with your business from their own phone or computer.
